Not Messing Up My Diet at Yalla Yalla

It's no easy task sticking to my "not a diet diet", but so far it's gone well. I had a small slip up with some sugar on my strawberries at work but that can be forgiven.

When it comes to eating out things get tricker. Myself and Hayley wanted somewhere really yummy, not too expensive and healthy. Hayley is coming to Ibiza too you see. The amount of restaurants that fall into this category in London Town are few, they're mostly veggie places or sushi. I'm keeping away from most carbs so we weren't left with much until Yalla Yalla got thrown into the mix. Lebanese, lots of meat and roasted veg. Yes, yes and yes.

Myself and Hayley arrived and thought it would be cute to sit by the open front of the restaurant on high stools as it was such a nice evening, but 2 minutes after sitting down we realised they were super uncomfortable and that sitting on one of the casual benches would work best. Wouldn't want to hinder our eating ability by trying to maintain our balance throughout dinner, let alone after a bottle of wine. We went for a French Savignon Blanc which was the affordable option.

We took a look at the menu (for the 7th time that day in Hayley's case) and with a little help from peeking at the table next to us, decided to order the Hommos Shawarma, Falafel and Fattoush to start and for mains the veggie Fatte Khodra and Chicken Shawarma. The food was plentiful and full of flavour. All the meat was cooked perfectly, and every dish complimented the others. Our favourite dish would be the falafel which was easily the best I've had. Upon arriving Hayley was a falafel virgin, she left a convert.

Word of advice on ordering would be to either get 1 starter and a main each (between 2) or just 4 starters. They are so big that we had heaps left over, which I hate.

My only criticsm of Yalla Yalla would be due to the fact I spent the majority of my time there with a rather unattractive sheen upon my brow, they really need to sort out the air con as it was verging on uncomfortable.

Overall though, it makes the perfect after work eatery or casual date venue. It's pretty much the Lebanese version of Wahaca to put it simply. The vibe is chilled, the service was attentive but not pushy and we'd definitely consider going back.
